Macau unimpressive result
HVS International reports that Macau’s casino profits came out around $1 billion in April 2009, or a nine % drop since one year ago and 13 % drop from March 2009. The figures indicate the 5th successive month in which casino profits on the Asian offshore gambling island have dropped.
According to media reports from the region, Chinese government restraints on the numbers of people going to Macau have caused the drop, as has the influence of the international depression on travel organizations.
Macau’s Statistics and Census Service has posted statistics showing that the average hotel tenancy rate dropped by 3.1 % points annual to 72.6 % in March 2009 with the first-class hotels indicating tenancy rate at 86.4 % throughout this time.
