Chinese officials using online gambling?

Stephen Wong, writing in the publication Asia Times Online this week made the attention-grabbing inspection that Communist Party apparatchiks and Chinese government officials could be turning to online gambling for their amusement and profit in a response to government clear-outs on fraud and embezzlement of public funds.
Wong states that Beijing’s attempts to clearout on gambling with public funds by Communist Party and government officials seem to have made little movement.
“While longer jail terms and the jeopardy of losing their jobs fail to discourage officials from gambling, visa constraints to Macau - the most accepted gambling destination for Chinese officials - has only driven officials to online casinos,” as said by Wong.
