Annual Global Gaming Expo 2009
What industry of both online and land-based gambling industry seek for in the speech given by Frank Fahrenkopf, chief of the American Gaming Association, at the annual Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas is the indicators on the well-being of the business and the course it is heading. This year as well, Fahrenkopf addressed delegates to the 2009 event.
He stated that U.S. commercial casinos received $7.94 billion in revenue throughout the 3rd quarter, 5.5 % less than a year earlier, and that whilst economists estimated the country is experiencing one of the worst downturns in history that is not necessarily a practical reality for a lot of casinos or their punters.
“Main Street is still feeling the heat, in fact, of the economic slump. The same should be said very evidently for the gaming business.” Fahrenkopf commented.
The Expo itself indicated this weak point, the gaming exec examined, pointing out that exhibitors registered for about 20 % less than last year. Fahrenkopf said organizers expected 25,000 people would participate in the 4-day event, which is 1000 less than last year.
