Biggest online gambling case in China

Apparently it is one of the biggest online gambling case in China, came to a close in a Shanghai court throughout the weekend. 20 defendants involved in a $1-billion online football gambling case were charged with fine and sentenced to prison terms from 1 to 6 years. All 20 accused pleaded guilty in January 2009.
According to the Xinhua news agency, the Shanghai Putuo District People's Court sentenced Qian Baochun (41) the prime accused, to 6 years imprisonment and charged him to pay a fine of 5 million yuan ($735 000) for building gambling sites. Another 19 convicted accused, such as Zou Jun and Liu Biqing, 2 second tier ring leaders, were sentenced to jail terms from 1 to 5 years with fines from 20 000 yuan to 1.01 million yuan.
