Ladbrokes reveals increased profits of 2008

Ladbrokes revealed that in spite of the economic slump, the gambling site had succeeded to increase revenue in 2008. In general, with the exception of “high rollers” the site increased earnings with an 11.1% increase to revenue.
The “high rollers” have quieted down their betting. Although they still wagered £80m but this is less than half the amount have wagered back in 2007, £170m. In general, however, online casino players, poker players and sportsbetters wagered £172.2m in 2008.
Ladbrokes CEO Christopher Bell explained: “Our outcomes in the 1st 6 weeks of the year indicate a total win increase of one percent, excluding High Rollers. Since the beginning of the year, [High Rollers’] business has provided an additional £24 million to operating revenue to the organization.”
