Land-based gambling badly influenced by economical slump

The financial depression goes on to influence badly on land-based gambling business in Nevada, as said by Associated Press which reported the most recent official figures this week. Casinos in the gambling state experienced hardship for their 13th straight month of slumps in January 2009, showing $908.6 million for a 14.6 % fall corresponding to January 2008, indicated by a state report issued Tuesday.
Taxes based on the casino win, a main income source for the state, dropped a shocking 42.3 % corresponding to a year ago, the Gaming Control Board reported. Up to now this economic year, those incomes dropped 20.3 %.
“We are experiencing a continuance of the very harsh depression in our economy,” Control Board analyst Frank Streshley stated. “And we are comparing the January figures to a soft month a year ago. That indicates we are still not at the end. We are still in a declining trend and to try to look forward to when things are going to crush out is very difficult.”
