Hackers objecting Australian censorship website

According to the Wired.com blog, hackers objecting the furtive censorship blacklists of the Australian government revealed by Wikileaks contributed the online censorship board’s web page to be taken temporarily offline Thursday.
At the same time as Communications Minister Stephen Conroy was doing the talk show rounds aiming to rationalize the secrecy-prone censorship moves of the government’s Australian Media and Communications Authority, the hackers took control of the agency’s website to object disclosures that the government schemed to need ISPs to block public access to thousands of websites, many of which are inoffensive.
The federal government’s actions have caused protests across Australia, with critics decrying it as censorship. Internet suppliers claim that the sort of filtering being considered by the government could make browsing speed heavy, and indicate that unlawful material including child pornography can be traded on P2P networks or chats, which wouldn’t be covered by the filter.
